Origin Story
Bishan Wate is a premium washing station located in the Hambella Womena district of the Guji Zone, Ethiopia. Built by Testi Coffee in 2021, the site was chosen for its high elevation and access to fresh, clean water from the Wate River. Managed by Faysel A. Yonis, it’s one of 28 family-owned Testi stations known for their focus on quality and sustainability.

During harvest, cherries are delivered daily by 600–800 smallholder farmers from nearby villages such as Buku Seyissa and Wade Suke. Grown in red volcanic soil under native shade trees at over 2,000 m altitude, these coffees ripen slowly — producing denser beans and exceptional sweetness.

The lot was processed using the washed method, fermented for 36–48 hours, and meticulously dried on raised beds for up to 15 days. This careful process ensures clarity, floral aromatics, and vibrant fruit character in the cup.
